GUCCI FLORA GORGEOUS GARDENIA INTENSE

Gucci Flora Gorgeous Gardenia Intense is the newest release by GUCCI, following the great success of the original. I’ve managed to secure a bottle thanks to the Influenster program so I can bring you fresh news from the scented world.

As Gucci Flora Gorgeous Gardenia Intense has not been launched officially yet, we all have to wait for the official pyramid breakdown. The notes that you see above are ones listed on Fragrantica, who announced the release a long while back. If anything is incorrect, I’ll circle back to the post and update it, as usual.

For now I run solely off what I can smell in Gucci Flora Gorgeous Gardenia Intense. Opening has a very fizzy vibe to it. Lots of juicy candied berries and I can clearly detect the cranberry accord, that is very much in tune with the original Gorgeous Gardenia. So far so good. It is very familiar opening, I literally had to get to my perfume room and cross-check this fragrance against the Flowerbomb Ruby Orchid which from my memory opened in a similar matter. And yes, most definitely, the similarity is there, but the Viktor & Rolf opens with more sour berry+cotton candy mix as opposed of spicy vanilla+berries in Gucci.

Either way, both scents utilise the same berry aroma compound. As I’ve mentioned just now, Gucci Flora Gorgeous Gardenia Intense carries a lot of vanilla inside. Spiced up by nutmeg and some peppery after-taste that show themselves at about 4h on the skin time. It is the type of vanilla that is highly likeable, predictable choice, yet well executed one too. There is some soft amber and white woods in the base, supporting the vanilla even further, not letting it drift away into the “too sweet” type.

As for the mid notes, it’s still berries and hedione, lots and lots of hedione. A compound that is very popular in feminine fragrances within last decade. This compound is responsible for sweet neutered jasmine flower smell. Clean, polite, heady, but never animalic or jarring. I happen to love this raw material a lot and mixed with berrries and spicy vanilla it does the trick for me.

Composition is well blended, and despite the very common opening these days, the drydown of this fragrance is beautiful. As for the performance, it is solid in comparison to the classic Flora Gorgeous Gardenia. Sillage is moderate to strong, which is a good thing too. In my opinion, one of the decent offerings amongst the newer designer releases.
