MY THOUGHTS

BORTNIKOFF Amber Cologne is one of the interesting compositions and definitely a very wearable fragrance from Bortnikoff. It is beautiful fresh citrus-floral fuzzy scent featuring several of my favourite ingredients out there: Lemon, Sambac Jasmine, Sandalwood, Frangipani, Ambergris. Oud, being a specialty of this house is very sterile and clean in Amber Cologne. There is no skank, barnyard, cheese and any type of jock socks in this one.

To my nose it is mainly fresh citric florals with soft fuzzy warmth ambery touch in the base. This is an outstanding fragrance for the scorching summer with top level humidity, sea breeze in the distance and easy mood on lazy days. If you want your white florals clean like new linen, this one is for you. If you seek an oudy punch, you might want to look further.

Overall composition from top to bottom is very elegant and smooth. Citruses mix well with florals, cardamom is grounding the entire thing from being straight on lollipop flavouring. I really love it. Performance is very good on my skin. I feel like the warmer it gets outside, the better it wears. Longevity is 10-12 hours which is good considering the high concentration of the fragrance. It carries name of cologne but don’t let that name fool you. I am yet to try the latest Oud Cologne to make my final verdict but for now Amber cologne is in my top 3 favourites from this house.
