MY THOUGHTS
BURBERRY Goddess Parfum is something that I had not expected to receive when signing up for a campaign on Influenster. I don’t pay much attention to the text and thought it was the regular EDP that was travelling my way. Nonetheless, it is more than a pleasant surprise to be amongst the first people to have a go at this scent.
I’m fairly familiar with its predecessors: the classic eau de parfum and the eau de parfum intense, so I can navigate my thoughts well enough that I am writing about it today, as I wear it on the skin an hour after unboxing it. As any of you might expect, BURBERRY Goddess Parfum is walking the same path of the vanilla-lavender combination. However, the lavender is much more muted in comparison to the EDP and is hiding behind some other interesting notes here at the opening.
Needless to say, I’m going off what my nose senses and not any note pyramids, as these are not yet available to the public. To me, it feels like there is a lot of spicy zestiness in the start, making me assume there is ginger in here. And what struck me the most was a soft and delicate boozy note, like fine cognac (think about that aged oak barrel effect that we all know from Kilian’s Angel Dust and Roja’s Enigma). It’s still a heavy fragrance, but does not have as heavy a vanilla and lavender start as the other two in the range.
The blending is very decent, and I’m definitely in the mid-wear stage of the fragrance at the moment. And it somehow makes me think of Libre Le Parfum – same density and intensity, to be exact, plus a little promiscuous note of violet staring at me.
Overall, it is a strong like, bordering on love. I never opted for the original EDP as it felt too messy and unfinished. The Intense version was the one I was eyeing for a while, but more important purchases overshadowed my “want”, so I let it be. Now that I have the Parfum, it is definitely my most favourite edition of Goddess.
I work at a desk about 3 meters away from my hubs, and he told me that it smells good in the room, which, upon closer inspection, was me – after 3 sprays of BURBERRY Goddess Parfum. So projection is rather powerful here. Before I write the final conclusion, let’s see how it dries down further and how well it stays on my skin. Early prognosis, though: we might have a winner here. I’m super curious when it will officially launch and what price tag it will carry.
