An island in the southernmost, an oasis.

The wind combs through the green hair on the back of the hills and detangles the scents.

The rustle of grass cuts through the breeze and leaves a long-running lime-colored hue.

Fruits grow on the island’s skin and gradient to yellow, the mark of fingernail on its peel looks like a sickle moon.

The color brushes through the landscape and runs down the sea. A splash of turquoise.

The blue of water on shore washes up and meets the yellow of the island. A beautiful blend of colours.

MY THOUGHTS

ONE DAY Jeju is one of the two latest additions to the Ethos of Cities collection and let me say that: I am obsessed with it. Yuzu is my number one favorite citrus in fragracnes and I managed to collect way too many fragrances in the past 16 years that perfumes truly became my hobby.

Ethos of Cities Jeju is reimagined 006 Jeju Island from ONE DAY. I was not able to try the initial release, but I certainly have the 2024 release and it is stunning. Initial outburst of yuzu is the culprit of my nose saying ” woooow”. It is so fresh and bitter with touch of sparkle from lime/orange rind and it sets the mood for my entire day when applied in the mornings. The yuzu tartness here is front and center of the composition. Other notes like bazil, moss and tomato leaf greenness are merely an echo. Small elements uplifting the yuzu further into it’s mouthwatering refreshing glory.

ONE DAY Jeju is a citrus scent alright. However it is not quite as fruity as you might think. It has a lot of texture and depth. This comes as no surprise to anyone that Jeju reminds me a lot of the very polished version of yuzu-dominant fragrance made by British house Heeley. I personally find Jeju more balanced and present on skin (in terms of yuzu) throughought the day which is an extreme challenge and shows true skill of the perfumer who manages to extend yuzu presence in the composition to the absolute max.

Wearability factor is 10+. It fits many occasions and seasons and you don’t have to worry that you will kill people around you with yet. another ambroxan or musk bomb. This is pure class, refined sophistication and complete composition that would rock everyone’s summer.

I applaud Michael Wong for staying on top of his game creating a masterpiece after masterpiece. One Day is truly a brand that treats perfumery as an art form, nothing less.
