Saaqi opens with the opulent richness of red wine, layered with the creamy warmth of almonds and the spice of black pepper. Smoky tobacco and cedarwood dominate the heart, evoking the haze of an ancient tavern. The dry down is decadently gourmand, with oud blending seamlessly into luscious caramel, velvety vanilla, and the balsamic sweetness of benzoin, all softened by a sensual touch of musk.

MY THOUGHTS

Saaqi Sasva Parfums newest creation is finally here. I’m so excited about this gorgeous boozy wine-tobacco composition. It’s been a while since decent wine note dominant scent was released so bare with my excitement, okay? I was able to try the mod of it last year in Cannes and the final result is even better than I remember.

Opening of Saaqi Sasva is all about the red fruit wine. Sweet, alcoholic, dark. Laced with notes of wild honey and my nose tingles from the peppery start of things. Like my nose entered the middle ages dimension. After about half an hour, it sweetens quite a bit, slowly loosing the tannic wine notes and gaining more of the wet (hookah type) tobacco presence. This particular transition is absolutely gorgeous.

As tobacco blast settles further, After few hours Saaqi Sasva gets very warm and vanillic, with radiant hues of distant caramel sensation just at the tip of my nose. The more it progresses into its drydown, the sweeter and warmer it gets. I am left with prominent blend of caramel and fuzzy softly animalic musk at the end. Not the dirty kind, no-no. The kind that makes you think of skin heated by the summer sun.

With Saaqi Sasva have totally outdone themselves. All I can say, wearing it is a real pleasure to the senses. I can say with positive certainty that it will be a clear bestseller for the brand. However, I do have a small warning for the fragheads out there: careful, it is quite heavy stuff so be gentle with sprays otherwise you can choke yourself out in the summer heat. Keep the heavy spraying routine for the fall-winter time. I know I will certainly do the same.
