During the first half of the nineteenth century, under the reign of Marie Louise, Duchess of Parma, the thermal waters of Salsomaggiore springs have welcomed people from all over the globe. Nowadays it is a community where art and music take central place alongside the thermal baths and collide into one during the days of the Incontrarsi a Salsomaggiore festival. And now in 2026, Casamorati have dedicated their newest release to a place where you can experience the dolce vita culture at its finest. Italian heritage has always been at the centre of collection of Casamorati and newest release demonstrates brand’s core ethos once again.

First shown in Cannes during 2025 preview gathering for the inner circle and partners in September, the official launch took place in Paris on an evening during intimate dinner, filled with music overlooking the Eiffel tower and gardens of Louvre.

Sergio Momo, reestablished the brand after it nearly perished in mid 1900’s. Rebranding was done from the scratch and several scents have seen the new light in 2009. One of my favourites from the initial collection, Fiore d’Ulivo retained its original beauty and has been a pillar composition for the house, responsible for the large success during the early years of Casamorati’s rebirth.

Fast forward a few decades and here we are, 2026 Tempio d’Acqua is born. An exquisite fruity-floral amber composition with mellow and peaceful backbone of creamy moderately sweet vanilla. It is a divisive composition. Some will say it’s fruity vanilla, others will stumble on the fennel in its heart and assume it is an  aromatic fragrance above all. To my nose it is an airy amber. Translucent, gentle, luminous. A liquid piece of stained glass during dawn: muted colors and lots of texture when you look through it at the light.

Juiciness of peach opening changes beautiful throughought the wear,  revealing the apricot and osmanthus facets on my skin. I’ve brought the bottle with me to Mexico, Turkey and Italy this summer and in every place it was behaving slightly different on me. I did draw solid conclusions though. Main one is that Tempio d’Acqua is made for hot climate. Steamy hot air brings down the brightness of the opening, smoothing out the transitions during the wear.

Something to be aware of: here in chilly Dutch air, the presence of green sharpness from fennel is a little thorn, sticking out, poking my senses. It acts as an interrupting note in a way.

As the fragrance settles, good portion of myrrh, ambroxan and vanilla show up. I must say, in a very polite non-intrusive way. You know what they are, but they never take over the weel. A delicate balance that gives Tempio d’Acqua sophisticated edge. A solid yes and definite repurchase in full size, once my 30 ml bottle is finished.
