Classique Pride 2024:

Get used to it! Jean Paul Gaultier engages once again with the new limited edition PRIDE. A perfume with the colors of the rainbow that loudly and strongly proclaims self-love and love for differences.
With a bust full of pride at the forefront of the parade, Classique struts its chromed curves wearing a street art print t-shirt from the 1994 spring-summer collection, matching its dear partner Le Male. In its wake, pure freshness on the skin and love to give and sell, an eau de toilette for all who delight the senses. An entire community in celebration.

The Bottle:

My body, my pride. Animated strokes in passionate scenes: Classique Pride celebrates sexual liberation. Pride! On its printed white bust, the universe of street artist Keith Haring merges with Gaultier’s colors. Joy! Between street art and pop art, the emancipated body dresses in the values of both creators to declare: “let’s love ourselves as we are!”. Around the same message, a queer and fun homage to the Once Upon a Time mural.

MY THOUGHTS

Classique Pride 2024 has been a juicy find for my collection of yuzu-dominant fragrances. Every now and then, a random fragrance manages to surprise you and this is the one that didi it last year. Not with complexity or shock value, but with a quiet confidence that breaks away from expectations.

Known for the JPG typically sweet, gourmand-leaning aesthetics, I was pleasantly excited to find something not fitting their normal bill. Gaultier certainly takes a refreshing turn here, offering something brighter, cleaner, and more nuanced. If I squinted my eyes I would even be able to consider it a niche brand release.

The first spray delivers an immediate splash of vibrant citrus—juicy, mouthwatering, and wonderfully uplifting. These top notes feel natural and energetic, the kind that instantly puts you in a good mood. There’s no sticky sweetness or oversaturated fruitiness; instead, it’s crisp, fresh, and beautifully balanced.

As the citrus gradually softens, a bouquet of subtle florals rises to the surface. The flowers here are not heavy or heady—they float softly, adding elegance rather than drama. This gentle floral heart smooths the composition and gives it a refined, almost airy character.

Purchased blind at an excellent price, this fragrance turned out to be a pleasant surprise. It performs well technically: good projection in the opening, a steady presence throughout the day, and a dry-down that stays close to the skin without disappearing too quickly. The limited-edition bottle design also deserves a mention. It complements the character of the fragrance perfectly—stylish, refined, and visually pleasing. A beautiful object to have on the dresser.

In the final stage, the fragrance transitions into warm, soft woods. They don’t overwhelm; instead, they hum quietly with a persistent calmness. This woody base anchors the bright opening and the floral heart, giving the fragrance a long-lasting, comforting finish that stays with you all day.

There’s no leaning toward masculine or feminine here, even though flacon is female shaped. The composition is balanced in such a way that Classique Pride 2024 truly suits anyone. I wear it with great pleasure, and it feels equally at home on any skin.
