MY THOUGHTS

ORGAN TALE Devenir represents a perfect take on the cologne genre. Created by legendary perfumer Bertrand Duchaufour at an impressive 40% concentration it was the scent that caught my attention during London Niche Show. This futuristic neo-cologne challenges everything you thought you knew about fresh fragrances and their longevity, balancing classical sensibilities with contemporary brightness.

Duchaufour’s philosophy and signature blending shines through every aspect here. The blending of the herbacious and citrus notes, plus the overall playfulness of the scent paired with super-longevity, is precisely what makes this careful cologne construction an exceptional scent.

The opening is very juicy and vivaciously green, overdosed with beautiful vibrant lemon and bergamot. The star note framed by the sweet citruses here is still the crispy green petitgrain. Very clean bitter-green crunchy texture of petitgrain with hints of wood and leaf-like quality elevate this beyond typical fragrance. Aromatic rosemary accord adds luminous refreshing dimension, creating a beautiful fresh, green scent that some may perceive as soapy. What strikes straight from the get-go is a very unique addition of mint that’s invigorating without overwhelming the compositon. There’s something classic about the overall impression, reminiscent of traditional aftershave scents, yet the execution feels thoroughly contemporary creating that clean, freshly-groomed feeling. ORGAN TALE Devenir is a fragrance that is simply hard not to like.

As the scent dries down on my skin, it settles into more traditional cologne territory but with a crucial difference: exceptional longevity. The 40% concentration is virtually unheard of for this style of fragrance, transforming the wearing experience entirely. Where most fresh fragrances disappear within hours, Devenir demonstrates impressive staying power while maintaining its clean, zingy character.

The base reveals indescribably sensual musk alongside green tea rather than jasmine tea. I’m most obsessed about that part as once, during the wear I also got the edamame note there that made me think “okay, where does this one come from”. Not listed in the pyramid, I clearly sensed the chewy green bean texture, a veggie that is considered a savoury treat in my household. I wa thinking long and hard where it might have been coming from and only possible offender of that vegetal note is green tea, naturally slightly astringent in character. Somehow, that note is reinforcing the herbaceously juicy opening in a way that my nose just goes “bazinga”. Towards the very end, the clean musk becomes increasingly prominent, creating lingering sensual presence. This isn’t heavy detergent musk but rather something clean and skin-like, extending the cool quality while adding warmth and intimacy.

Beyond the juice itself, ORGAN TALE has executed every aspect beautifully: masterful composition, premium presentation, balanced pricing, and quality bottle with excellent sprayer.
