PHOTOGENICS +CO NO. 1 HASHISH DIFFUSER

Photogenics + Co No. 1 Hashish diffuser is beyond anything I could dream of. It’s aesthetic look made me squeak with awe, when I first came across it in Milan couple years back. And now 2 years later it’s in my possession thanks to generosity of Guirec from Maison Guirec. It is a beyond beautiful diffuser that is a stunning piece of luxury that acts as architectural piece of art scenting my home with one of my favourite scents from Photogenics + Co.

The diffuser comes in a set with the fragrance that you can choose on the website. And figers crossed  it will soon be available at our creme-de-la-creme Dutch store.

Hashish scent profile is very unique. Released almost decade ago, it’s been a champ for the brand in terms of popularity. And yes the name refers to the actual substance of weed recreated in perfume with major goodness in terms of everything olfactory. Living for half my life in NL, I’m no stranger to the smell of weed and hash. And No. 1 Hashish delivers the hashish part alright.

Yes it is a cannabis centred scent, but it is also so much more! The opening presents  smoky and herbal, cannabis-adjacent scent profile. There’s definitely smoke in the air, together with nearly photorealistic hashish note. Green fizzy note appears at first, that’s the blackcurrant. It provides the unexpected brightness to the scent that could otherwise be perceived as monotone start. Most certainly walking a line between suggestion and representation of “the real deal”.

The smoky character comes largely from spices rather than cannabis itself. Cumin and cloves contribute to this very burnt herbal, resinous quality that reads as smoke. Ginger and cinnamon aare not showing up on mu skin from the perfume, but are clearly present in the room scent oil. Both add a distinct warmth and spice, that is almost cinnamon like! Crazy, I know.

The base reveals dirty musks (no skank) and earthy bottoms that ground the composition in primal and slightly raw herbaceous realms. Photogenics + Co No. 1 Hashish  has none of those clean, polite musks in it. I have No. 1 Hashish in balm version for over a year now ant it has been a total champ so far. Now having it in diffuser oil, the experience is more feral and woody. Diffuser is most certainly more “the real deal” type of a scent than extrait de parfum or balm concentration. The vetiver is more pronounced in diffuser oil, giving me the charred smoky woodiness, while oak moss adds earthy depth. Real bubble hash possesses deep, resinous quality with chocolate-like richness, something that is just vagely brushed in the extrait.  The perfume mimics hash well without achieving perfection, capturing some of that rich earthiness while translating it through composed fragrance.

Buuuuuuuut, the diffuser is totally up my olfactory alley! As a real fragnerd, I love the scent of hashish, but I hate using the real “herb” if you know what I mean. For true weed/hash scent enthusiasts, like moi, this diffuser is certainly capturing every nuance of the real deal without the headache of using it on myself. 

The price point might seem painful at first, but with moderate useage and life-long-art-vessel you have a bang for your buck! The refills are currently listed at 42 USD which is very doable. Only minus is that lava rocks are not sold separately, so I have to reuse existing ones mixing the scents which I’m not personally fond of.
