EPICHRON NIGHTCHILD BY MICHAEL NORDSTRAND
OFFICIAL BRAND STATEMENT
Somewhere between the shadows and sublime moonlight,
stars glow like embers above towering conifers,
their silhouettes dissolving in the endless night.
Winds whisper; time stops.
incense vapour reveals a world of deep greens and lissome herbs laced with smouldering resin, moss and distant fire: the breath of the ancient forest.
The sky burns with the sudden incandescence of the aurora, stirring memories from deep within the earth, an echo of nature’s dark materials.

MY THOUGHTS
EPICHRON Nightchild, an ode to my generation children picking mushrooms in the woods during the sunny fall afternoon after a rainy day. There’s something deeply satisfying about discovering a fragrance that captures the essence of nature without falling into the predictable traps that plague so many “outdoorsy” scents. EPICHRON latest offering delivers exactly that-a sophisticated photorealistic take on the archetypal dark woodsy fragrance that manages to feel both familiar and refreshingly distinct.
From the opening spray, you’ll recognize this scent family immediately. I an in a well familiar territory here for woody aromatics: woods, resins, sappy ferns, and citrus-kissed herbs with a twang.
But don’t let the familiar framework fool you-Nightchild carves out its own compelling space within the genre.
Campfire, wet logs of perishing trees where al sorts of foresty goodness grows on, conipherous resins and udergrowth. I get the beautiful zesty note of hinoki in here, even though it is not listed in the pyraimid. The air carries that perfect scent far from the trees, into the air through warm fall winds. And herbaceous freshness of moist ground drying in the sun note is to die for. Slightly sweet smoke, patchouli combo for sure.
EPICHRON Nightchild captures that exact moment, or morning mist evaporation off the ground. It leans into the softly sour, citrusy edge of cedar and hinoki, amplifying the sharper, greener facets of fern and mosses. There’s a silvery, almost musky freshness here that plays beautifully against the metallic bite of lavender. It’s this interplay in particular that gives Nightchild its distinctive character.
As it develops, the composition does get more straightforward, barbershoppy, heady. Adding further complexity and plush vibe to the drydown.
For those who love woodsy fragrances but have grown tired of the utterly smoky formulas, this is definitely one to explore. It respects the personality of forest so to speak. The balance between familiar comfort and unexpected twists with lavender makes it both approachable for newcomers and interesting enough for fragheads who thought they’d smelled everything this category had to offer.
Highly recommended for anyone seeking their next signature scent for fall-winter.
