MY THOUGHTS

JIJIDE Oltre is an interesting release that has put lavender to pedestal in an uncanny manner.

Imagine stepping into a morning garden where dewdrops start to catch the first light of the day. Crisp clean air, little hint of aquatic freshness, soft green aura of violet leaf. It’s hard to explain in short sentence, but I’ve tried my best.

JIJIDE Oltre is definitly NOT your typical floral; it’s a rare mixture of divisive aldehydic and aquatic families in motion, topped with lavender and shitload of violet. When lavender is dewy and crisp, deprived of sweetness, the violet here is sharp and persistent, almost detergent like. Nuanced with violet leaf’s sterile metallic sharpness. It is striking, how the two polarising aspects of violet have met each other in a watery manner (not using calone as mediator), that is so feels both meditative and full of olfactory action.

Beneath that sharp violet surface runs an electric purple current: lavender. It’s note gets stronger on my skin overtime. It also changes from dewy morning lavender to dried bouquet hanging in a workspace of an artist, who uses it as a way of calming down his or her thought process.

JIJIDE Oltre isn’t just a scent; it’s a study in beautiful contradictions. Cool yet warm, minimal yet complex, serene yet overrun with motion of the very. few notes in it.
