BOADICEA THE VICTORIOUS BLUE SAPPHIRE
OFFICIAL BRAND STATEMENT
Part of the magisterial Sapphire Collection of gem-inspired creations, Boadicea’s Blue Sapphire perfume is a dewy floral, rosaceous and piquant with oud, sparkling lemon and herbaceous marigolds. It was created in honour of the 65th wedding anniversary of Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip, blue sapphire being the celebratory gemstone. A swooning heart of dewy rose, jasmine and creamy magnolia is backed with supple leather.
Sapphires symbolise loyalty, devotion and happiness rather appropriately. This is an intensely floral perfume in a rich blue bottle with a swooning heart of dewy rose, jasmine and creamy magnolia. A beautifully composed bouquet is presaged by a piquant lemon top note, the apothecary vibe of chamomile and tagetes. All this flavoured by the basmati scent of saffron.
There is a supple spine of leather in Blue Sapphire that links the fresh gin and tonic citrus sparkle and a compelling dark oud and amber base with a satisfying patchouli earthiness. A delicate hint of dark chocolate flickers up through the lush floral heart, up to that dynamic herbaceous overture, giving Blue Sapphire a resounding magisterial feel.
In keeping with its celebration of longevity and commitment, Blue Sapphire has remarkable staying power, allowing a fulsome appreciation of a fabulous perfume.

MY THOUGHTS
Boadicea the Victorious Blue Sapphire bursts forth with a crazy citrus-herb cocktail. Initial sparkle here is definitely from the bright lemon and orange duo. In contrast to it, the herbacious counterpart is feeling very medicinal in the opening. It contains the dried chamomile flowers, fresh sage, and gentle velvety oily floral aspect, very typical for marigold. It feels stately and composed, yet playful, like rpharmacists meeting the first light of day.
Within moments, rich floral bouquet unfolds: dewy rose, heady jasmine, and plush magnolia take center stage. The rose is both creamy and assertive. Here think roseedat green fresh bs. It is dominant, not flinty: deeply romantic, poised. Jasmine weaves through, giving a luminous lift, while magnolia softens rose with a velvety grace.
As the florals fade, a rather luxurious foundation of the scent emerges: rich oud, saffron and very earthy patchouli. A weeny whisper of supple leather adds a noble spine to the mix very familiar to any fraghead. The fact that patchouli is so earthy yet not wet is what saves this fragrance from being considered yet another generic rose-oud combo. It’s dry, almost smokey and feels ultra noble on the skin.
The overal finish of Boadicea the Victorious Blue Sapphire on my skin is certainly with more masculine appeal. However, I adore this fragrance to bits and my bottle is nearly empty. Careful, this fragrance is extremely long‑lasting and heavy, lingering well over 12 hours on skin. Application on clothes makes the entire house smell like it for days if you leave your coat hanging on the chair or in hallway. If you don’t appreciate such intensity, better to try before you buy.
