EPICHRON TWIN PEAKS EXTRAIT DE PARFUM
OFFICIAL BRAND STATEMENT
Two of a kind, two names, two stories.
Plant the same seeds onto two peaks;
Let it grow in parallel, and see the fate split.
1841 Himalayans.
Mountain to mountain, East to farther east.
Harsh heights it traveled in secret hands,
in new soil it settled on the spiced land.
The water flows in fruity carmine, Assam replacing the other gemini.
Silhouetting a far sight, Darjeeling becomes a new-named sibling.
1646 Wuyi mountains.
Valleys so deep and hills so cold, pots whistle yet barely make an echo.
Tang of earth imbibed by buried roots. Strange mountains on which it grew.
Withered green on cremated pinewood, smoked and brewed in a less-known title.
Lapsang Souchong fore the relocated seed;
Or otherwise another name, on another peak,
in another life, like the other twin.

MY THOUGHTS
Oh yes, we have a winner here! Twin Peaks by Epichron is simply gorgeous addition to my tea fragrances collection…
The initial bitterness of the composition will surely wake you up in the morning. What you get upon the first seconds is the scent of freshly brewed black tea with a dash of bergamot added, just to elevate the astringent black tea aroma. So please, forget the Ceylon English Breakfast bs association that I see floating around, it’s not that type of tea.
Think aged tea cake, freshly unwrapped and as you crumble it between the fingers to get few leaves and put them in your cup to seep. The scent of this tea is woody, smokey, almost as if the leaves were dried over a campfire. It is not a warm scent. On the contrary, there is a very intriguing almost softly mentholated accord present here in the opening. It is dark, incensy and very pine-tree resin like. Very photorealistic representation of Lapsang.
Once the opening settles, there is a soft shift into floral territory. Not bloomig or cheery. More of a melancholic jammy, even more dried rose bouquet like. And that part stays on the skin the longest, right until a small spoon of honey is added into the mix, reducing the sharpness of bitterness of tea. That is a small prelude right before the base notes of Twin Peaks show themself. Hay-like vetiver and charred cedarwood. Incense is getting stronger towards the end of the wear too. but it never is louder than the tea and rose duet. I wonder if there is dash of birch tar in there too? Must be.
Twin Peaks manages to widen the realms of legendary tea kinds converted into fragrances for me. And yes, it is utterly similar to Darjeeling Zero (limited edition collab release by ONE DAY). Except, Twin Peaks in its present shape feels more darker and denser, more present on my skin. I bet the buck that possible cause for that is amped concentration.
You might guess how much I love this new release. The answer is hell-a-lot. Can’t wait to see what else is there up the creator’s sleeve for Epichron.
